This was an amazingly fun build. I was asked to custom build a 16 foot long 10 foot tall custom built in. After talking design through with the customer we landed on something. I then started the build.
Being paint grade I used maple plywood for the boxes and poplar for the face frames. We landed on a flush mount for the doors and the face frame.
I ended up making a single piece 16 foot long face frame. That was a beast to move around. It was a bit of hard work but I think it turned out great.
I also got to install roughly 1600 square feet of flooring on this job. That meant pulling off all the base board, installing the floor, and reinstalling the base board. This home has a lot of nooks and angles so the flooring was a good bit of work, but it turned out great.
I had a funny moment working on the floor where I was listening to an audio book installing the floor. I got a call from my wife asking if I was going to come home. it was about 2 1/2 hours after I typically get home.
This ended up being my favorite project of 2024. Not only was the customer great to work with but the end product turned out amazing.
